Mmm, Whatcha say?

Wow, I really let this thing die, didn't I? I wonder if anyone will actually see this.

So, here we go. Look out, I'm going to clog up your browser with videos. Sorry. I've been wasting some time on youtube again. Yay holiday weekend. Anyway, thanks to Rodney and Sean, I've become aware of the "Dear Sister" Saturday Night Live sketch, which is apparently actually called "The Shooting." It is a parody of a scene from The OC (rather violent, consider yourself warned):

Which led to this SNL skit (I know, I know, "Screenflow Demo"? Well, it was that, or some guy filming his actual TV. I'd consider this the lesser of 2 evils. This one's hard to find.):
EDIT: Linked because the embedding messed up the margins. I hate that.

Apparently, this sparked a huge meme with people making parodies that I somehow managed to miss. (Violence, Spoilers from the various movies used, etc.)

There's The Matrix:

300:

Lord of the Rings:

World Cup Soccer:

Duck Hunt:

The Office:
Link! (Embedding was disabled, but it's just too good not to include.)

"Charlie Bit My Finger":

Monty Python and the Holy Grail:

Scrubs:

... As you can see, it goes (or went) on and on. It would seem to be a rather old joke at this point, but since I missed it the first time around, I think I'm within my rights to post it! Sorry if you found this completely un-funny!

POST SCRIPT!
In case you were curious, the song used in the scene, and its subsequent parodies is "Hide and Seek", by Imogen Heap. It's a rather lovely song, I think.

Cut Through the Crap?

One thing I hate about election season is that there's so much bullshit thrown about. It's convention season, after all, and that means the major parties are busy congratulating themselves and telling you how horrible their opponents are. It's an interesting part of the process, but often the candidates are so full of it, it just makes me sick.

Recently, I heard about factcheck.org, a site run by a non-profit group out of the University of Pennsylvania, that's dedicated to taking the soundbites and slogans of national politics, and basically filling in the holes. Wondering if McCain really considers everyone making less than $5 million/year middle class? Does Obama really want to give up Iraq to the trrists? Well, they try to answer questions like that. For example, here is an analysis of Obama's nomination acceptance speech, and here is an analysis of Tuesday's Republican convention mudslinging.

It is worth noting that most of the articles seem to be pointed at McCain's campain. Whether this is because they're more full of crap than the Obama side, or it's actually an indication of bias, I'm not sure. But as the campaign ramps up toward November, I'm going to be keeping an eye on it. It seems though, that this site could be a good resource to cut through the crap. God knows, they're laying it on thick these days.

Instead of going to sleep, I spent the past hour-ish finishing the tags on all my posts. I finally made it to the end of the archive. So, now you can read all the posts about Music, the man, or OU. Maybe you want to read about Football...well, it's over there. Perhaps you want easy access to every last episode of R.O.P.D.R.P.W. It's over there too! Maybe you want to relive the harrowing saga of The Clunker? Well, what are you waiting for!? Get to clicking! Clickity-CLICKITY!!! -------------------------->>

Elections are Three Weeks Away!

As someone in an ongoing effort to become an informed voter, I've found this website to be quite helpful, for those voting in the Sooner State, that is. Give it a look-see.

Cringe

That's right...it's an update for the sake of uptodatedness.

Hello, my name is Richard and I make up words because it's fun.

*Hi, Richard*

So, now that we've got that out of the way...Kingdom of Loathing: I've become addicted. If you're not playing it, you should be. You can laugh at all the puns, smile at the pop culture references, join Meagan's clan, and revel in the browser based goodness.

The March snow happened tonight, right on time in the first week of spring. There are some pretty decent flakes going, but the ground's not going to be cold enough for anything to stick. Looks like it's just going to be cold. "Wear thick socks, Gordon." (C'mon, name the movie)

I've been working on another comic, but it's not ready yet...not that funny either, but oh well.

I'm pleased to report that plecostomus Benjamin Disraeli III is still alive and sucking. Nobody in my tank has died for a few weeks. I think it's officially safe to say I've got this whole fish thing off the ground. All the credit is really due to Meagan though, without her I'd have been lost in the endevour.

Oh yeah, and school's hard, I work way too much, and I don't have enough free time to satisfy my personal needs or those others want of me. So, pretty much business as usual.

Johari Window

So...I got this in an e-mail from Jenni Walker about a week ago, and sent it in an email to a few people, and now i'm putting it on here, so everybody can see how I'm percieved. Go on, percieve me...you know you want to.

EDIT: Fun fact, this was done by the same guy who did Urban Dead.

Yep, me too...blogging it up.

Like Berlin, 1945, I have capitulated.

Yes, I've started a blog, not because I have anything deep or profound to say to the deep, profound people on the internet, but because everyone else has, and damn it, it looks like fun. Baahhh, bahhh. Now I can argue with my friends about religion, give my opinions on movies, music, and other various entertainment, and whine and gripe about silly political and/or University goings-on, without putting on pants and leaving my bedroom. Hooray. So, we'll see where this goes. I don't know if I'll post all that often, but it may be everyday, you'll just have to wait and see where I take this. I just watched Star Wars: Episode III, and the last episode of Red vs. Blue season 3, and I've got a gift card for Hastings burning a hole in my wallet, so I'm sure there'll at least be something on that, if nothing else.

Oh, by the way, anybody who gets the movie reference (no, it's not to Star Wars) gets a cookie, because cookies are good.
